Northern Kentucky Service Members, Veterans, and Families Suicide Prevention Coalition

We are a group of organizations and community members—including veterans—that formed in April 2022 to collaborate and offer diverse perspectives dedicated to one mission. Our group was established in collaboration with NorthKey Community Care, Cincinnati Veterans Affairs, Northern Kentucky Health Department, and other local organizations.

Doug Witt

U.S. Army, 1865-2020

I was in the Army for four years. After getting out, I started experiencing severe mental health issues -- PTSD, severe depression, addiction. The addiction led to a suicide attempt and time in and out of jail. I was finally placed in a long-term treatment facility, which helped me start my recovery.

Today I am sober, and I have found hope and purpose through helping others. I am now  a Peer Support Specialist with Northkey Community Care, and I work with clients who are going through the same things I did. I help them with their mental health and addictions, and help them find hope. I walk with them to help them find their path of recovery. I am very passionate about working with veterans with PTSD.

Our Members

Every day, 22 veterans die by suicide. That's 660 every month. Each death also impacts hundreds of others, including family members. It hurts. We want to help.
